epipleural bone
(rib) one of a series of bones found in the horizontal septum (separating the upper and lower muscle masses of the body - epaxials and hypaxials). Epipleural ribs may be associated with the anterior pleural ribs, e.g. in Perca or with the vertebra, e.g. in Gobiidae. Also called dorsal rib and intermuscular bone
